PC QUEST

I had been planning on doing a piece on early 90s teen pop act PC Quest for a while. Remember them? Probably not. They had 1 song chart on the Billboard Hot 100 called After The Summer's Gone. They were kinda like a knock off of The Party imo. Anyhoo...here's what they looked like back then:

But today while browsing through wikipedia I came across an astonishing fact! Turns out the lead singer (he's the blonde boy in front) is now the frontman for Shiny Toy Guns! Holy crap! His name is Gregori Chad Petree.

That's him, second to left.

His brother Steve who was also in the band is now a Christian singer and even has his own myspace page. You can purchase his latest cd on cdbaby.com.

As for the other two members, Drew has a myspace page and continues to perform with other acts. And Kim? Hmmm...from what little info I could find seems she's a married woman and a mom now.

Who knew?

Wow! I LOVE this blog! I found it before and lost track of it. I was racking my brains trying to figure out what the name of it was and today, while looking up one of my favorite singers, Keedy, I found you...again!

I can't believe you found friggin' PC Quest! They were so cheesy and that song is totally dated, but I love it! Great work! I'm bookmarking you!!

They actually had 2 hits that made it onto Billboard. You're forgetting the first track off the album, Can I Call You My Girl. The music's impossible to find these days though. Stirs up a bit of nostalgia in me.

I'm a recording arts student in Tampa. My teacher told me he was a drummer for PC Quest. I just met him last week, but he seems pretty cool. He knows his stuff too. Aside from teaching he is a professional composer and arranger.

Just scanning a bunch of photos from my 26 year career radio. Wish I could show you the pic of me with PC Quest on the steps of WBWB in Bloomington, Indiana circa 1991! Nice to know someone else remembers them.

ah... the stench of nostalgia... I was barely 8 when they were blasted in all cool radio stations in our city... (I am in the Philippines by the way).

My sister used to have their first and last album i think (in casette tape)... i really loved Chad Petree's voice and i thought he was a girl... But seriously, I loved their songs alot...

I remember "Can I call you my girl" and "After the summer's gone". I also remember they have a version of Tiffany's "Can't you see" and it sounded alot better...

And recently, I have downloaded their songs... brings back memories of old summer days...

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS...

I worked at WOMP-FM in the Wheeling W.V market in the 90's, and I found an aircheck tape of an interview with PC Quest!!! They performed live on my morning show, interacted with callers and did an awesome version of Fat Bottom Girls!!! What a talented bunch of musicians and singers

I worked on their album as an engineer at George Tobin studios in North Hollywood. They were just kids from Oklahoma (I think). But they were cool.. and pretty talented. I have some super old songs on cassette that didn't make the record.

"can't you see" and "if love is blind" were first recorded by pc quest and then tiffany had her own version.

Here's the real story of "After The Summer's Gone". The song was written by Tim James(who worked with George Tobin). Tim had a reel to reel copy of the single by PC Quest and gave it to a guy named Mike Marino who was doing nights at some station in Palm Springs. Mike was also a weekend DJ at KGGI in Riverside(outside of LA) where I was Music Director. Mike liked the song and thought maybe I should play it. I then spoke to George Tobin who told me they hadn't signed a record deal yet, but were leaning toward going with Geffen Records. I added the song to our playlist, lied to the trade publications about it's status(you can't add something that's not really a record yet), and the journey began. We did a couple of shows with the group. I thought they were nice kids. I found one of their CDs at a used record store for 99 cents a few years back and bought it. It seems I was among those thanked in the liner notes. Pretty cool.

Actually Kimberly has recorded a CD of Christian music (she wrote all but one song on it) called Growing Strong. It's good! Don't know if she has any new projects in the works. Heard Stephen Petree in LA at the Dream Center - he sounded great!

WOW! I LOVED their entire album! Wish I could find it. Anyone know how to find one? You are right, most ppl don't know about them. Too bad.

Yeah, well, Kimberly's mom was a bitch. She was my music teacher. My sister went to high-school with Kim... none of her peers had anything kind to say about her.
